Miriam Switching Post

Workers commit to the same three hour shift every week. Duties vary, and can include selling merchandise, cashiering, answering phones, addressing envelopes, entering data, unpacking and sorting donations, cleaning and polishing donated items, and keeping the shop tidy and clean.

Some may work at home or off-site: marketing, picking up small donations, soliciting furniture donations, repairing furniture, polishing silver, or washing and ironing linens.

Sometimes a team will work at a donor’s home, packing small household items for later pick-up by our movers.

Miriam Estate Services

Under the supervision of our Estate Services Manager, volunteers work on an as-needed basis at off-site locations: sorting, packing, labeling and distributing items during the Empty-out itself, or marketing our services to potential clients.
“Although the job is performed voluntarily, the commitment is professional.”

We could not meet our fundraising goals every year without the countless hours of hard work so generously given by our dedicated volunteers.
Want to help?

We are always looking for people who want the chance to do something that will truly make a difference in the lives of others. We have fun doing what we do, but we also work very hard at the jobs we volunteer to do.

If you would like to apply for a volunteer position, please call Susan at 314-646-7737.

The Miriam Switching Post accepts donations of gently used furniture and household items for re-sale (we are not a consignment shop). Proceeds from sales support the programs of the Miriam Foundation: The Miriam School and the Miriam Learning Center (both located in Webster Groves).Your donations are greatly appreciated - and tax deductible.

Because all items in the store are donated, we never know what we'll have in stock from one day to the next. Most items sell quickly, so any photos on this site are just to show examples of the types of items we accept and thus are not guaranteed to be available in the store.
